Housing.lk is a free real estate classifieds website based in Sri Lanka. This page explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and what you can do about it.

Why we collect it

  • To review and publish your listing
  • To let buyers and renters contact you

Listing approval and fair listings

Every listing is reviewed before it goes live. We approve listings that are accurate and fair.

We do not allow listings that exclude or favour people because of their race, gender, religion, ethnicity, or similar traits. We may remove a listing that breaks this rule.

We do not need to know your race or gender to approve a listing, and we do not ask for them.

What is public

Your listing is public. Anyone can see the property details, photos, and the contact details you choose to include. Only post contact details you are happy to share publicly.

Who we share information with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with:

  • Service providers who help us run the site, such as hosting, email, and analytics. They may use your information only to do that work for us.
  • Payment providers, if you buy ad space: HNB.
  • Authorities, if the law requires it.

Advertising on this site

We sell ad space on Housing.lk. Advertisers do not receive your personal information from us. Ads may be shown to all visitors.

Cookies

Cookies are small files stored on your device. We use them to keep the site working and to see how people use it. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Some parts of the site may not work properly if you do.

How long we keep your information

  • Listings: until you remove them or they expire, then 1 MONTH.
  • Messages and contact details: for 12 MONTHS.
  • Billing records: for 36 MONTHS, as required by law.

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to keep your information safe. No website can promise perfect security, so please use a strong password and keep your login details private.

Your rights

You can ask us to:

  • Show you the personal information we hold about you
  • Correct anything that is wrong
  • Delete your information

Children

Housing.lk is for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you think a child has given us their information, contact us and we will delete it.
